6000L-30bar - 2x100Nm3/h Air start system for 3x Caterpillar engines Hatraco has been awarded an order for the delivery of 1 x pneumatic start system to provide primary start energy for 2x Caterpillar CG260-16 and 1 x Caterpillar CG260-12 driven gensets. The air system is based on a 6000L, @ 30bar MAWP air receiver powered by 2x 100Nm3/hr Air compressors. These gensets are used as combined heat and power units at a " Stadtwerke" in Germany.
The CHP plant consists of three modules, each of which can also be operated independently. The plant was dimensioned in such a way that, under 100% heat-led operation, at least one of the three modules is in operation throughout the year. Three natural-gas-fired 16-cylinder spark-ignition engines each drive a generator. The crankshafts of the engines are directly connected to the generator shafts without the use of a gearbox.
The electricity generated is fed directly into the medium-voltage grid via the nearby switching station. Surplus electricity is transported via an underground cable to a substation, where it is distributed further into the electricity grid of the Stadtwerke. At maximum capacity, the CHP plant can cover approximately half of the electricity demand within the Stadtwerke grid area.
