MODELS
52A, 52R AND 52E
The Models 52A, 52R and 52E air starters
are designed to start diesel engines of 57L and up or spark ignited
engines of 82L or larger. Single units have started gas engines
well over 410L, while paired units have been used very successfully
on gas engines of 656L or larger. The Model 52A and 52E-21 are
designed for installations where pressure of between 2-6 Bar
is available. The Models 52R and 52E-12 provide the same engine
starting performance in installations having pressure between
6-14 Bar available. These three models have inertially engaged
starter pinions, the Model 52A and 52R are interchangeable with
all SAE 2 or SAE 3 starter mounting configurations, while the
Model 52E has a mounting flange to fit a separate starter mount
bracket which is attached either to the engine's baseplate or
to a separate floor pad. Three different gearbox ratios are available
to optimize the engine cranking cycle and can be used with compressed
air or sweet/sour natural gas. Lubrication is not required in
the drive gas.
MODELS
51 AND 55
TDI has developed a number of starters for
industrial gas turbines based on the technology of the Series
50 air starter family. The Model 55 starters were designed for
application to industrial gas turbines. Each Model 55 incorporates
a sprag-type overrunning clutch in the starter's gearbox to provide
a means of disengaging the starter from the gas turbine once
cutout speed has been reached. Several flange designs are
available to meet industry standard mounting configurations.
The Model 51 air motors are very similar to
the Model 55's except for the exclusion of the internal overrunning
clutch. The Model Si's are used where the disengagement mechanism
is already provided within the engine's starter mount pad.
Three gearbox ratios are available for both the Model 51 and
Model 55 starters, as are a variety of internal aerodynamic configurations
for different supply pressures. All units can be run on air or
sweet/sour natural gas.
MODELS
52C AND 52J
The Model 52J and 52C air starters are sized
and designed to start diesel engines up to 57L and spark ignited
engines up to 82L. The Model 52J is designed for installations
where air pressure of 2-6 Bar is available. The Model 52C provides
identical engine cranking performance, but is used where air
pressure between 6-14 Bar is available. Both the Model 52J and
52C have inertially engaged starter pinions and are easily installed
wherever an SAE 2 or SAE 3 starter mounting pad and flywheel
configuration is available. Three gearbox ratios are available
for user optimization of the starting cycle. All models can be
used on either compressed air or sweet/sour natural gas and do
not require lubricant in the drive gas.
MODELS
42K, 43M, 44T AND 44E
The Series 40 family of air starters has
been designed to fit a broad range of small engines with a wide
variety of installation requirements. While using the well established
turbine technology of the Series 50 models, the Series 40 units
provide compact, high horsepower starters for the world's small
engines. All Series 40 starters are suited for diesel engines
up to 20L and for carbureted engines up to 30L. The various models
available include the Model 42K inertial drive for SAE 2 &
3 mounts; the Model 43M pre-engage for SAE 2 or 3 mounts; the
Model 44T pre-engage for SAE 1, 2 or 3 mounts requiring an overhung
pinion design; and the Model 44E pre-engage starter for European
cradle mount configurations. Versions are available for low or
high pressure air supplies. A large selection of installation
hardware, such as air receivers, hose kits, mufflers and valves
are also available.
